We focus on children’s needs for warm, nurturing relationships with their parents — and on parents’ experiences and feelings as they take the time to meet their children’s needs.
We offer affirmation, information and advocacy to at-home mothers and fathers and all parents who spend (or want to spend) generous amounts of time together with their children.
Parents have direct and indirect effects across a range of young children’s emotional and social competencies. Researchers have built a substantial body of evidence showing the importance of emotional and social competences, as well as the foundational influence of mothers and fathers.
Research findings in neuroscience, genetics and developmental science provide unequivocal evidence of the critical importance of nurturing and two-way intimate relationships between parent and child.

Campaign for Inclusive Family Policies

Parents who provide care for their children in lieu of using child care services deserve equitable support from family policies. Currently, many U.S. family policies focus on supporting families with parents in the workforce, children in child care.
Join our call for inclusive family policies!

How do we protect the future for all children? There are no easy answers, but we want to keep trying to make life better, from our neighborhoods to the world.
We are committed to paying attention and learning more about cultural and societal harms. We take action by sharing information about people and organizations working to change systems and policies, and also by offering opportunities to join in speaking up for change.
